New Delhi: The newly elected Delhi Chief Minister is set to take the oath of office on Thursday, February 20, at a grand ceremony planned by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The event marks the party’s historic return to power in the national capital after 27 years. As part of its strategy to project an inclusive governance approach, the BJP has invited a diverse range of attendees.
According to a report by NDTV, sources revealed that the BJP has extended invitations to gig workers, cab and auto drivers, farmers, and slum leaders. Women beneficiaries of the party’s welfare schemes have also been invited, acknowledging their growing electoral influence. The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections saw a significant rise in women voters, with many supporting the BJP due to its cash transfer schemes and other welfare initiatives.
The guest list also includes union ministers, BJP chief ministers, and members of Parliament. More than 50 Bollywood celebrities, industrialists, and diplomats are expected to attend. In a rare gesture, the party has also sent courtesy invites to outgoing Chief Minister Atishi, former CM Arvind Kejriwal, and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav.
Even as preparations for the grand event continue, the suspense over the new chief minister remains unresolved. The BJP’s Parliamentary Board has appointed observers to oversee the meeting of elected MLAs, where key decisions regarding leadership and governance will be finalized. With the party’s return to power after nearly three decades, the oath-taking ceremony is expected to be a major political event, reflecting the BJP’s vision for governance in Delhi.
