Kathmandu: Kathmandu has been rocked by massive ‘Gen Z’ protests against alleged corruption and a sweeping ban on social media platforms, plunging Nepal into political and civil chaos. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on Tuesday issued emergency helpline numbers for Indian nationals in Nepal, asking them to remain alert and seek assistance if needed.

📞 Indians can now call +977–980 860 2881 and +977–981 032 6134 for immediate help from embassy officials.
The embassy posted on X: “All Indian nationals in Nepal are hereby requested to note the following telephone numbers for contact, in case they are facing any emergency situation or require assistance.”

Adding to the upheaval, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned earlier in the day, with President Ram Chandra Poudel formally accepting his resignation amid escalating unrest.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also stepped in, issuing a strong advisory: “Indian citizens presently in Nepal are advised to shelter in their current places of residence, avoid going out onto the streets and exercise all due caution.” The ministry urged Indians to defer travel to Nepal and closely follow safety advisories issued by both local authorities and the Indian Embassy.
