As nearly 22 lakh aspirants appeared for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination across the country on Sunday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan extended his best wishes to candidates and urged them to approach the examination with confidence and a positive mindset.
Ahead of the crucial medical entrance test, the minister expressed trust in the systems overseeing the examination and reassured students that all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and fair process.
Addressing candidates, Pradhan said, “I have complete faith in the National Testing Agency, state governments, district administrations, India’s education system and, most importantly, India’s students. Nearly 22 lakh students are appearing for this examination. Sit without fear, sit without worry, and give your best.”
The minister emphasized that confidence in the country’s examination framework remains strong among students and their families. He said that the trust candidates place in India’s education and assessment systems should continue to be preserved.
“Students believe in India’s system, and I hope that belief remains strong. Their confidence is important, and every effort should be made to protect it,” he said.
With the re-examination taking place amid intense public discussion and scrutiny, Pradhan also appealed to individuals and organisations to avoid creating unnecessary panic among students at the last moment. He stressed that young aspirants should not be subjected to additional stress before an examination that could play a major role in shaping their future careers.
“Please do not play with the future of India’s new generation. Do not turn such serious matters into a joke. Let us not do anything that affects the mental well-being of children who are preparing for an important examination,” he stated.
The minister further criticised those whom he accused of spreading confusion and anxiety among candidates. Without naming any specific individual or group, he urged public figures and stakeholders to act responsibly and avoid making statements that could disturb students ahead of the test.
“If you consider yourselves responsible citizens and representatives of society, then act responsibly. Do not increase the difficulties faced by our students. This is a sincere appeal,” Pradhan said.
The NEET UG 2026 re-examination is being conducted under enhanced security measures and strict monitoring across examination centres nationwide. Authorities have instructed candidates to strictly follow examination guidelines, carry all required documents and arrive at their centres well before the reporting time to avoid any inconvenience.
With lakhs of students competing for admission to medical colleges across the country, today’s examination is being closely watched by students, parents and education authorities alike.
