NEET Shocker: Nagpur Student Finds Abu Dhabi Exam Centre on Admit Card a Day Before Test

A NEET-UG aspirant from Maharashtra received a major shock after discovering that his examination centre had been assigned in Abu Dhabi, despite selecting Nagpur and nearby cities as his preferred locations while applying for the medical entrance examination.

The unexpected development surfaced when the student downloaded his revised admit card ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. According to the family, the candidate had originally been allotted a centre in Nagpur for the earlier examination. However, after the test was rescheduled, the newly issued admit card reportedly mentioned a school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as the examination venue.

The family said they were stunned by the change, especially with the exam just around the corner. Sending the student overseas at such short notice was not a practical option, they said, adding that he did not possess the necessary travel documents and there was no time left to make arrangements.

Following the discovery, the family contacted the National Testing Agency (NTA) and sought immediate intervention. They were reportedly informed that the matter would be reviewed and corrective action would be taken if an error had occurred.

The incident has triggered fresh concerns over examination administration, particularly at a time when the testing agency is already under intense scrutiny following recent controversies related to competitive exams. Education experts and political leaders have also called for a swift resolution to ensure that the student is not deprived of the opportunity to appear for the examination.

Meanwhile, authorities have put extensive arrangements in place for the conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. Enhanced security measures, biometric verification, CCTV surveillance and GPS-monitored transportation of examination materials have been deployed to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities.

The examination is scheduled to be held in hundreds of cities across India and several international locations, with more than 22 lakh candidates expected to appear. As preparations enter the final stage, the unusual centre allocation has once again put the spotlight on the importance of error-free exam management for students whose academic futures depend on the test.
