In a significant development, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) constituents have finalized their seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. Rishikant Shinde from Satara and Shriram Patil from Raver Lok Sabha constituencies are among the key figures in this strategic allocation of seats.

After weeks of intense negotiations, the MVA partners, comprising the Shiv Sena, Congress, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), came to a consensus on the distribution of seats. The announcement, made on Tuesday, outlines that the Shiv Sena, under the leadership of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, will contest 21 seats, while the Congress party will vie for 17 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party, helmed by Sharadchandra Pawar, will field candidates in 10 constituencies.

This crucial decision was jointly revealed by the stalwarts of the MVA alliance, including NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole. The alliance’s arrangement sets the stage for a fierce electoral battle against the ruling Mahayuti coalition, which comprises the BJP, NCP led by Ajit Pawar, and Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, for control over Maharashtra’s 48 parliamentary seats.

Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and the undivided Shiv Sena contested together and secured 23 and 18 seats, respectively, reinforcing the significance of their past alliance and the subsequent political realignment in the state.

The Nationalist Congress Party’s inclusion in the seat-sharing agreement adds another dimension to the electoral dynamics, reflecting the intricate web of alliances and rivalries shaping Maharashtra’s political landscape.

The upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra are scheduled to take place in five phases, spanning from April 19 to May 20. As the countdown to the elections begins, political parties are gearing up for a rigorous campaign to sway the electorate in their favor and secure a decisive mandate.
