In the aftermath of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s conspicuous absence from a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, October 3, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has successfully secured the guardian minister’s posts for districts of their choice. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, on Wednesday, released an updated list of guardian ministers for 12 districts, reshuffling the distribution of responsibilities.

Notably, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has been designated as the guardian minister for Pune, reinforcing his influence in the region. In a significant reallocation of roles, Hassan Mushriff has assumed the role of guardian minister for Kolhapur, while Dhananjay Munde takes on the responsibilities for Beed. Dharmarao Baba Atram has been appointed as the guardian minister for Gondia.

However, in a notable move, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Chandrakant Patil has been assigned guardian minister responsibilities for two districts, Solapur and Amravati. Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has been reassigned to Akola.

The realignment of guardian minister posts is seen as a strategic move by the NCP to consolidate its presence in key districts, with Ajit Pawar overseeing Pune, a politically significant region. The absence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar from the cabinet meeting has triggered speculation about internal dynamics within the coalition government, and this reshuffling of ministerial responsibilities is being closely watched by political observers.
