Mumbai: With Holi, Dhulivandan, and Rang Panchami festivities around the corner, Mumbai Police have rolled out strict guidelines to ensure a safe and hassle-free celebration in the city. The restrictions, effective from March 12 to March 18, aim to prevent public disturbances and unlawful activities during the festival.

The directive, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Akbar Pathan, prohibits throwing water balloons, using offensive language, and engaging in indecent gestures that could cause discomfort to the public. The police have warned of strict legal action against those who violate these rules.

Major Restrictions During Holi:

  • No Water Balloons or Forced Colour Smearing: Throwing coloured water, dyes, or balloons at people without consent is banned to prevent cases of harassment.
  • Ban on Obscene Language and Songs: Shouting offensive slogans, singing vulgar songs, or making indecent remarks in public spaces will invite legal action.
  • Prohibition of Offensive Gestures: Any actions, placards, or symbols deemed immoral or disrespectful will not be tolerated.

The Mumbai Police have deployed additional personnel across the city, particularly in crowded areas and locations known for grand Holi celebrations. Strict monitoring will be in place to curb any instances of unruly behavior.

Authorities have emphasized that these measures are intended to ensure that Holi remains a joyous occasion without causing distress to citizens. “Enjoy the festival responsibly, respect others’ boundaries, and follow the law,” the police advisory stated.

  1. Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
