Mumbai: Mumbai Police have arrested actor-producer Kamaal R Khan in connection with a firing incident that took place at a residential building in the Oshiwara area of the city. The arrest followed a detailed investigation that used forensic analysis and technical inputs to trace the source of the gunshot.
As per media reports, the incident occurred last Sunday near Nalanda Apartment. A bullet was found to have struck the building, triggering concern among residents. Police teams, along with forensic experts, immediately visited the location, but the initial inspection did not clearly establish where the shot had originated.
The case took a turn after the Crime Branch and forensic science experts conducted a deeper analysis of the bullet’s trajectory. Using scientific methods, the team identified the direction from which the shot was fired and narrowed it down to a specific point near a residential area close to Kamaal R Khan’s home.
Investigators also examined CCTV footage from nearby locations to corroborate the forensic findings. Based on the combined evidence, the police called Kamaal R Khan in for questioning late Friday evening. During interrogation, investigators concluded that the bullet had been discharged from his licensed firearm.
As per media reports, Kamaal R Khan stated that he had fired the weapon while cleaning it and that the shot was aimed toward a nearby mangrove area. However, the bullet allegedly travelled a longer distance and struck the residential building at Nalanda Apartment.
No injuries were reported in the incident, though the presence of residents in the building at the time raised serious safety concerns. Following the completion of preliminary questioning, police formally placed Kamaal R Khan under arrest late at night.
