Mumbai Juma Masjid has launched an app called ‘Al Islah’, the Azaan app, which helps to live Azan or call to prayer, which is made five times a day. It has been developed by IT final year students of the Maharashtra college.

The app has many features initially and as it will be developed more new features will be added. As if now live azan, nearby mosques and namaaz timings are some of the features.

A few months back Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray opposed the use of loudspeakers in mosques as it spreads noise pollution.

He even warned that if Azan is played on loudspeakers MNS workers will play Hanuman Chalisa in front of the mosque. As this could lead to tension between the two communities, the state government ordered no use of loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am.

“This app could be starting to de-escalate tension and I recommend other mosques to lower their voices to certain decibels which will not disturb others. We live in a society where we need to respect each other’s sentiments and religious values, so I request people to use this app as it has a live azan feature”, said Maulana Azari.

Even MNS has praised the initiative of Juma Masjid and congratulated the trustees for launching ‘Al Islah’ app.
