Mumbai: Since last three days Mumbai has been receiving heavy rainfall, which has created the same annual problems of waterlogging and traffic jams for Mumbaikars. In Mumbai, Colaba area received 39.0 mm of rainfall, 80.2 mm of rain was recorded in Santacruz till 5.30 pm on Wednesday evening.
According to the information received by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 24 incidents of tree fall were reported till Monday. Incidents of tree falling were reported at 13 places on the city were reported in one single day. In which four trees fell in the city, seven in the Eastern Suburbs and 13 in the Western Suburbs of the city.
Along with these incidents, reports of short circuit were reported from six places on Wednesday. One incident of short circuit occurred in the city, two in the Eastern suburbs and three in the Western suburbs.

Due to the heavy rains in Mumbai incidents of wall or house collapse were also reported on Wednesday. Four incidents occurred at various places in the city. A part of a house on the first floor of a three-story building in Grant Road area of Mumbai collapsed. About 20 families were residing in the building. The residents were safely rescued to the safer place. Two people sustained minor injuries in the accident. They were taken to the nearby hospital by the police. Fortunately, there was no loss of life reported in all these incidents.
Areas of in Hindmata, Dadar TT, Sion Road No. 24, Ruia College, Shekhar Mistry Road Matunga, BPT Colony, Gandhi Market, Tilak Bridge in Dadar, Andheri Subway, Khar Link Road, Khar Subway were water logged till Thursday afternoon, this caused huge traffic jams which had to be diverted. BMC administration clarified that the traffic returned to normal after the water was drained off.
Mumbaikars are already battling with Coronavirus, but the incessant rainfall has even more brought the city to its knees.-By Vikas Nag
