The Mumbai branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for an enthusiastic celebration of Ganeshotsav, the beloved festival honoring Lord Ganesha. The party has organized a grand ‘Mumbaicha Morya’ competition to double the joy of devotees, offering significant prizes for various categories. Additionally, free travel options have been arranged for those traveling to the Konkan region during the festival, announced Mumbai BJP President MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.

In a press conference held at the BJP state office, Adv. Ashish Shelar emphasized the commitment of the BJP government to celebrate all festivals, including Ganeshotsav, Dahi Handi, and Navratri, with great enthusiasm since coming to power.

The ‘Mumbaicha Morya 2023’ competition, in collaboration with Mumbai Bank, is expected to draw participation from over 2,500 Ganeshotsav Mandals this year, building on the success of the previous edition. The competition will feature three categories: Best Idol, Best Decoration, and Best Cleanliness in the surrounding area. Winners in each category will receive a substantial reward of Rs 3 lakh for the first prize, Rs 1.5 lakh for the second prize, and Rs 75,000 for the third prize. Furthermore, 12 consolation prizes of Rs 11,000 each will be awarded, along with participation certificates for all participants.

A total of 30 expert groups will evaluate the mandals based on various criteria, including the beauty of the idol, the quality of decoration, cleanliness, and the presence of a social message. BJP Konkan Vikas Aghadi president Suhas Adivarekar and his team, as well as Legislative Council group leader Pravin Darekar and MLA Prasad Lad, are actively involved in planning and execution to ensure the competition’s success.

To facilitate the festivities, Mumbai BJP, in collaboration with Indian Railways, is providing free travel on six trains to Konkan. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will flag off the first train on September 15, reinforcing the party’s commitment to making the festival accessible to all.

Furthermore, Mumbai BJP is also arranging free bus services on 256 ST buses for Ganesha devotees, with additional private buses provided by corporators in their respective constituencies. These efforts aim to make the celebration of Ganeshotsav more convenient and enjoyable for the people of Mumbai.

In an additional development, the guardian minister of Mumbai suburbs, Shri. Mangalprabhat Lodha, has requested the creation of an artificial pond in Aarey for the immersion of Ganesha idols, ensuring that the festival can be celebrated without disruptions.

The Mumbai BJP is dedicated to enhancing the festival experience for the people and strengthening its connection with the community during Ganeshotsav, adding to the joy and fervor of the celebration.
