Mumbai: A shocking incident has unfolded in the upscale Ajmera Heights society located in Kalyan’s Yogidham area, where Akhilesh Shukla, an account manager at the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), allegedly incited a brutal attack on a neighboring family over a minor dispute. The violent confrontation left three individuals injured, with one currently undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Sion Hospital.

The incident escalated when Abhijit Deshmukh, a resident of the society, was severely injured in the assault, suffering multiple wounds that required 10 to 12 stitches. He was rushed to Sion Hospital for medical attention. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers not only physically assaulted the Deshmukh brothers, but also abused and attacked other residents, including women who tried to intervene. Disturbing videos of the altercation, which have since gone viral, show the brutal nature of the attack.

The conflict originated from a seemingly trivial issue: Shukla’s wife, Geeta, was performing her daily worship rituals outside their home, lighting incense sticks. The smoke from the incense reportedly drifted into the home of her neighbors, Varsha and Vijay Kalvikatte. This caused health complications for their three-year-old child and elderly mother, both of whom suffer from respiratory issues. According to reports from Pune Pulse, the recurring smoke from the incense led to multiple arguments between Geeta and Varsha, which gradually escalated tensions.

During one such argument, Abhijit Deshmukh and his brother, Dheeraj, stepped in to mediate the situation, trying to resolve the dispute amicably. However, their efforts were met with hostility, and Shukla allegedly reacted by calling a group of 10 to 15 men, armed with iron rods, to attack the Deshmukh brothers. The violent assault left the victims bloodied and shaken, with Abhijit being the most severely injured.

Authorities have since taken action. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the immediate suspension of Akhilesh Shukla from his position at MTDC, stating that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Fadnavis condemned the attack, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and resolving disputes through dialogue rather than violence.

Local police have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers. Meanwhile, the residents of Ajmera Heights are in shock over the brutality of the attack, with many expressing concern over the safety and security of their neighborhood.

This incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many questioning the motives behind Shukla’s violent actions. It has raised serious concerns about the growing instances of aggression and mob mentality, especially when trivial disputes escalate into violent confrontations. Residents and activists are calling for stricter enforcement of laws to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of citizens in their communities.

As investigations continue, the authorities are being urged to take further action against those involved and to ensure that justice is served to the victims of this senseless attack.
