MP Sanjay Singh Tears Into Election Commission, Calls CEC “Agyanesh Kumar” as INDIA Bloc Unites in Protest

New Delhi: A massive political storm erupted in Delhi on Tuesday as opposition parties under the INDIA bloc banner launched a blistering attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI). This came just a day after Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi either submit his electoral malpractice allegations through a sworn affidavit within seven days or issue a public apology to the nation.

In a rare show of unity, eight opposition heavyweights — Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Shiv Sena (UBT), Samajwadi Party (SP), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Trinamool Congress (TMC), and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) — addressed a joint press conference at the Constitution Club in Delhi, where they accused the poll body of partisanship and undermining democracy.

AAP’s fiery Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh took the sharpest aim at the Chief Election Commissioner, mocking his name as “Agyanesh Kumar.” Singh thundered, “Either he is a fool, or he is deliberately acting like a fool, or he considers us fools. He is making such illogical statements that we are astonished. He did not answer even a single question that was asked to him.”

He raised serious questions about the deletion of 65 lakh votes in Bihar during the Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls (SIR) between June 25 and July 25, while not a single vote was added in the state during that period.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi accused the Election Commission of abandoning neutrality. “It is clear that EC is under such officials who are not unbiased. Instead of answering why 70 lakh voters were mysteriously added between the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections, the CEC chooses to question political parties,” Gogoi said.

TMC leader Mahua Moitra minced no words, describing the CEC’s conduct as a “shameful display of puppetry.” She added, “The job of the Election Commission is not to attack the Opposition. Mr Chief Election Commissioner, go back to your political masters.”

RJD’s Manoj Jha invoked constitutional morality, warning the CEC against conflating his position with the Constitution itself. “EC is not synonymous with the Constitution, it is born from it. Don’t rip it to shreds,” Jha declared.

SP veteran Ram Gopal Yadav alleged that deliberate voter deletions in Uttar Pradesh had been overlooked by the poll body, terming it a “calculated conspiracy.”

Meanwhile, DMK’s Tiruchi Siva flagged the CEC’s silence on the Supreme Court’s directions regarding publication of voter deletion data, stressing that these lapses directly affected ordinary citizens and not just political parties.
