Davos: Following the inauguration of the World Economic Forum last night, Maharashtra has signed record-breaking MoUs worth ₹4,99,321 crore under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the very first day. These agreements are expected to generate approximately 92,235 jobs. Among these, the largest MoU, worth ₹3 lakh crore, has been signed with JSW Group in areas such as steel, renewable energy, infrastructure, cement, lithium-ion batteries, solar wafers, and cell modules. Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to Sajjan Jindal of JSW for this agreement, which is expected to give a major boost to Maharashtra’s development. Industry Minister Uday Samant and other officials were also present at the occasion.

“This is a historic day for Maharashtra. While it’s snowing outside in Davos, the inflow of investments here is making it warm inside,” said Fadnavis. He further added that under his leadership, Maharashtra has made the process of ‘Ease of Doing Business’ swift and seamless. Sajjan Jindal remarked, “I told the investors standing in long queues outside that once you come to Maharashtra, you won’t want to leave.”

Interestingly, the first MoU in Davos, as described by Chief Minister Fadnavis, was signed for Gadchiroli, not the last district of Maharashtra but its first. This agreement with the Kalyani Group focuses on defense, steel, and EV sectors, with an investment of ₹5,200 crore and the creation of 4,000 jobs. The MoUs signed today include partnerships with companies like Kalyani Group, Reliance Infrastructure, Balasore Alloys Ltd., Viraj Profiles Pvt. Ltd., AB InBev, JSW, Vari Energy, Tembo, Elmont, Blackstone, Panchshil Realty, Avani Power Batteries, GenSol, Bisleri International, H2 Power, ZR2 Group, Blue Energy Motors, Essar, BookMyShow, Welspun, and others. These agreements span industries such as logistics, automobiles, steel, electronics, IT, infrastructure, entertainment, green energy, and green hydrogen.

One of the agreements was signed with FUEL (Friends Union for Energizing Lives), which will train 5,000 youth in Maharashtra in fields like artificial intelligence, digital marketing, and business analytics. They also expressed their intention to establish the FUEL SkillTech University in Pune.
