Thane: Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued a notice to Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) threatening that the airport staff would go on strike. As per the notice, the airport authorities have not paid the employees for their service.
MNS general secretary and president of Kamgar Sena Manoj Chavan took to his Twitter account and shared the notice and wrote, “Airport staff provided uninterrupted service during the lockdown were not paid. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena warns airport management of agitation and strike against injustice against employees”.
As per reports appearing in the media permanent employees have not received salary for past two months and contractual workers have not been paid salaries for six months and they have not got salary slips for eight months.

Certain contractors at the airport have threatened their employees of termination if they demanded payment of pending dues. Hence, the union has demanded immediate release of salary with interest and risk allowance.
However, other unions at the airport have decided to wait, “We spoke to the MIAL CEO last week about pending salaries and were assured of payments in the last week of September. We are positive the issue will be resolved soon,” said Sarwar Mohammed to the media. Sarwar Mohammed is the general secretary of Airports Aviation Employee’s Union (AAEU) which has about 2,800 members, including 1,400 who are permanent MIAL staff.
Indian Airports Employees Union (IAEU) has taken the issue to the Bombay High Court in August. The affidavit filed by MIAL reveals that workers are caught in a battle between MIAL and government-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI).
