Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has strongly criticized the central and state governments, accusing them of discriminatory treatment towards Muslims in religious matters. In a post on X, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister asserted that India, as a secular nation, must ensure equal treatment of all religions without bias.

Mayawati warned that unequal implementation of rules and laws concerning religious festivals could harm social harmony and peace, calling it a matter of serious concern. She urged the government to take corrective measures, stating, “The step-motherly treatment being meted out to Muslims in religious matters is not justified. The rules and laws related to restrictions and exemptions regarding festivals of all religions should be implemented equally without any bias.”
