PM Modi Expresses Deep Grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended condolences to the victims’ families. “Deeply pained by the mishap due to the capsizing of a boat in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. My condolences to those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The local administration is assisting those affected,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Accident Details and Preliminary Findings

According to Mathura DIG Shailesh Kumar Pandey, the incident took place around 3:15 pm near a pontoon bridge site on the Yamuna River. Preliminary investigation suggests the boat may have collided with the pontoon bridge, leading to the capsizing. Officials confirmed that 10 bodies have been recovered so far, while several passengers remain missing.

Massive Rescue Operation Underway

Police, Fire Services, local divers, and boatmen are actively engaged in rescue operations. Teams from NDRF and SDRF have also been deployed. “Teams from the Fire Services and Police, along with local divers and boatmen, are actively engaged in rescue operations. NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed and a search operation is underway for all missing individuals,” officials said.

CM Yogi Adityanath Calls Incident Heart-Wrenching

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath termed the incident heart-wrenching and directed officials to immediately reach the site. “The loss of lives in the boat capsizing accident in Mathura district is extremely tragic and heart-rending. My condolences are with the bereaved families. Instructions have been issued for immediate rescue and relief operations and proper treatment of the injured,” CM Yogi said in a statement on X.
