Srinagar: In a peaceful and well-organized election, Mansoor Ahmed Bhat and Malik Abdul Rashid were elected as the president and general secretary, respectively, of the Handwara Traders Federation. The election witnessed a strong turnout from the trading community and was conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Out of a total of 1,338 registered voters, 1,239 votes were cast. Of these, 26 votes were declared invalid.
In the race for the president’s post, Mansoor Ahmed Bhat secured a resounding victory with 561 votes, defeating his nearest rival Shahzad Ahmad, who received 299 votes. Other candidates included Lateef Ahmad Banday with 184 votes, Bilal Ahmad Zargar with 105 votes, and Tariq Ahmad Banday with 69 votes. Mansoor Ahmed won the election by a margin of 262 votes.
For the post of General Secretary, Malik Abdul Rashid emerged victorious with 515 votes. Altaf Ahmad Chechi secured 417 votes, Nazir Ahmad received 143 votes, and Showkat Ahmad Wani got 132 votes. Malik Abdul Rashid won by a margin of 98 votes.
Following the announcement of results, both newly elected office bearers extended their heartfelt thanks to the Sub-District Administration of Handwara and the entire trader fraternity for ensuring a peaceful and democratic electoral process. They pledged to work diligently for the welfare, unity, and development of the business community in Handwara.
