New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order in Delhi. Referring to the recent sexual assault of a minor girl in Tilak Nagar, Sisodia claimed that crimes against women in the capital were escalating, with criminals acting fearlessly due to BJP’s misplaced priorities.
Speaking at a press conference, the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister alleged that criminals had no fear of the law under the BJP’s rule. “Elections are over. Now, the BJP must focus on law and order, which has collapsed in Delhi,” he said.
Sisodia further accused the BJP of neglecting governance and being preoccupied with attacking Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP. He claimed that the ruling party’s focus had been limited to defaming political opponents rather than ensuring the safety of citizens.
The BJP, which secured a victory over AAP in the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, is set to form the government, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. However, opposition leaders like Sisodia continue to criticize the party’s governance approach, especially regarding women’s safety.
The Delhi Police, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Union Home Ministry, has yet to respond to Sisodia’s allegations. Meanwhile, the AAP has demanded immediate and strict action in the Tilak Nagar sexual assault case, urging the BJP government to prioritize law enforcement over political rivalries.
