Addressing a rally in Suri, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a strong attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his reported claim of being the BJP’s face across all 294 Assembly seats in the state.
Questioning the move, Banerjee said, “Narendra Modi is saying that he is the candidate in 294 seats. Okay, then leave the Prime Minister seat. Then say that you are going to be the Chief Minister of Bangla… How you say? Which position will you take?”
‘Outsider’ remark and Delhi jibe
“You are an outsider to Bengal. You are claiming that you will contest in every constituency. First take care of Delhi, then look towards Bengal,” she said, sharpening the political attack ahead of elections.
Confident claim: TMC to cross 226 seats
Projecting confidence in her party’s electoral prospects, Banerjee asserted that the Trinamool Congress would secure a decisive mandate.
“In the year 2026, we will get more than 226 seats. Keep this in mind. With the force of Delhi and with the ‘Dilli ka Laddu’, you will never be able to conquer Bengal,” she declared.
Allegations over money, drugs, and arms
The Chief Minister also alleged misuse of money and illegal activities during the election period.
“You are spending so much money in these areas, so that no one can catch you. That is why you have sent everyone to another state. Because money is coming from Bihar, drugs are coming, arms are coming,” she claimed, without naming specific individuals.
‘TMC fights for people,’ says Banerjee
Highlighting her party’s grassroots presence, Banerjee positioned TMC as the only force actively working for the public.
“We are fighting this war. We are fighting from the streets to the courts. That’s why they are saying that they are giving the ultimatum… We accepted it as a blessing. Except TMC no one else fights for people. They don’t do anything. They don’t stay on the streets. They don’t come to trouble,” she added.
