New Delhi: The Congress party on Wednesday strongly criticized the BJP-led government, accusing it of waging a “systematic and conspiratorial attack” on India’s constitutional institutions. Speaking at a crucial session of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), party chief Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the need for restructuring the party’s organizational framework, empowering district units, and called for a renewed commitment from party members. He made it clear that those unable to contribute to the party’s efforts should step aside, urging members to retire if they could not fulfill their duties.

In a resolution titled ‘Nyay Path’, adopted during the session, the Congress party slammed the BJP government for its failures in managing the economy, foreign relations, and its betrayal of farmers. The resolution called for urgent policy changes, including implementing reservation for OBCs, STs, and SCs in private educational institutions. Congress leaders demanded that this be done without further delays.

The resolution also reflected the party’s stance on foreign policy, accusing the BJP of weakening India’s global standing. It criticized the current government’s approach, claiming that under the Congress-led governments, India had a principled foreign policy, which elevated the country’s international stature. The party accused the BJP government of undermining national interests in favor of individual political branding and personal gains, citing issues with China’s territorial aggression in Eastern Ladakh as one example of the government’s failure to safeguard India’s sovereignty.

On the economic front, the Congress party expressed deep concern over India’s growing wealth inequality and rising economic injustice. The resolution pointed out that under the current government, India’s economy had been mismanaged, with soaring prices for essential goods and a lack of job creation. The party stressed that unemployment had hit a 45-year high, with nearly 30 lakh government jobs lying vacant. It further lamented that India’s “demographic dividend” was being squandered, with young people turning to drugs due to the lack of employment opportunities.

Highlighting the importance of agricultural policies, the Congress reaffirmed its commitment to a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for farmers. The resolution outlined the party’s vision of a future where farmers are free from debt and where agricultural policies ensure fair prices for their crops.

As part of a broader strategy to reorganize and strengthen the party, Congress declared 2025 as the year for “organizational empowerment.” The party vowed to take on the “arrogant, unjust, and oppressive forces” and work towards a stronger, more unified organization to fight the BJP.
