Srinagar: The Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) volunteers of Government Degree College Handwara organised a social outreach activity in the twin villages of Kutlari and Shahnagri area of Mawer.

A group of 36 students under the supervision of the Principal, Prof Dilruba Rasool Hamdani and accompanied by Prof. Rabia Rasool, among other MSK designated officers, made a door-to-door survey of the hamlets and sensitized the womenfolk about various government schemes regarding the empowerment of women.

The volunteers identified the womenfolk who are eligible for various government benefits but haven’t been provided so far.

Prof. Rabia Rasool persuaded the womenfolk to proactively seek their social security benefits and take recourse to free legal aid in case their rights are encroached upon.

The adolescent girls of the hamlets were encouraged to pursue careers in various skill-based professions for their economic self-reliance and social mobility.
