Mumbai: Continuous heavy rainfall has battered parts of Maharashtra since Sunday afternoon, prompting emergency responses across several districts. State Minister Girish Mahajan provided an update on the situation, highlighting ongoing rescue and relief operations.
Speaking about the crisis, Mahajan said, “Heavy rain is occurring in the state. It has been raining since yesterday afternoon. There are 5-6 districts where red and orange alerts have been issued for rain. Heavy rainfall has occurred in Nanded, and people are being evacuated from flooded areas. SDRF teams have also been called in, and the administration is working on it… 4-5 people are missing, but the search for them is ongoing… We are keeping an eye on the situation. Arrangements for food and water for the people have also been made.”
Authorities have issued red and orange alerts in multiple districts, while rescue teams, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), are actively conducting evacuation and relief operations. Several low-lying areas have been inundated, and affected residents are being shifted to safer locations.
