Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has filed a case against comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent following a controversy over YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks in a recent episode. Authorities have booked around 30 to 40 individuals who were part of the show from its inception to episode six.
“A case has been filed against all individuals involved from the first episode to episode six. Notices are being sent, and statements will be recorded,” an official from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell told news agency.
The controversy erupted after a viral clip showed Ranveer Allahbadia asking a contestant an explicit question, prompting laughter from co-guests Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani. Social media users slammed the show for promoting vulgarity under the guise of humor. Following the backlash, Ranveer apologized, citing a “lapse in judgment.”
Cases have been registered against Samay, Ranveer, and others in Mumbai and Indore, with Assam Police also filing an FIR on Monday. Meanwhile, Samay Raina, the show’s creator, has yet to comment on the legal action.
