Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, hailed Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwenkar’s verdict affirming his faction as the authentic Shiv Sena, declaring it a triumph for democracy.
Addressing reporters, Shinde emphasized the outcome as a victory based on truth and majority. He stated, “It is ‘Satyamev Jayate’. Truth has won…This result has been given on merit. Majority is very important in democracy and hence the decision given by the Speaker today is the victory of democracy,” as quoted by news agency ANI.
Narwenkar’s groundbreaking ruling established Shinde’s faction as the genuine Shiv Sena, dismissing petitions from the UBT faction. The Speaker’s verdict highlighted that Thackeray lacked the authority to remove Shinde as the legislature party leader. As per the party’s constitution, the national executive held supremacy over the paksha pramukh, the position held by Uddhav.
