Prayagraj: In anticipation of a massive influx of devotees for the final special bathing ritual on Mahashivratri (February 26), authorities have declared the Maha Kumbh Mela area a no-vehicle zone from 4 PM on Tuesday, with the restriction extending to the entire Prayagraj from 6 PM onwards.
According to an official statement, the decision aims to ensure smooth crowd movement and prevent congestion. Essential service vehicles, however, will be exempted. The administration has urged visitors to comply with the guidelines and cooperate with officials for a hassle-free experience.
Mela Police have issued specific instructions regarding designated bathing ghats. Devotees entering via Dakshini Jhunsi must use Arail Ghat, while those from Uttari Jhunsi should proceed to Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat. Pande Kshetra entrants have been directed to Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat. Pilgrims from the Arail sector should use Arail Ghat for bathing.
With February 26 marking both Mahashivratri and the concluding snan of the Maha Kumbh Mela, devotees have been advised to bathe at their nearest ghats and offer prayers at local Shiva temples to avoid overcrowding at major pilgrimage sites. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure safety and smooth operations during the grand religious gathering.
