Prayagraj: In the wake of a devastating stampede that claimed 30 lives during the Maha Kumbh Mela, authorities are working tirelessly to restore order and prevent further tragedies. The stampede, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, has prompted significant changes, including the cancellation of several trains to ease congestion and ensure safety in the region.

Train Cancellations Announced

The Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of multiple trains, including special services, to manage the influx of pilgrims and streamline operations. Key cancellations include:

  1. Prayagraj-Ayodhya Cantt Special Train (04117): Cancelled for two days (January 29 and 30).
  2. Vande Bharat Express: Both the Agra-Banaras (via Prayagraj) and New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express services have been cancelled.
  3. Shivganga Express: Cancelled on Wednesday and remains suspended.
  4. Chaurichaura Express: Also cancelled due to operational reasons.

The Railways cited “operational reasons” for the cancellations, emphasizing the need to prioritize safety and crowd management during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela.
