Chhindwara: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of children in Chhindwara linked to Coldrif syrup and announced swift, decisive action by the state government.

“The deaths of children in Chhindwara due to Coldrif syrup are extremely tragic. The sale of this syrup has been banned across the entire Madhya Pradesh. A ban is also being imposed on the sale of other products from the company that manufactures the syrup. The factory producing the syrup is located in Kanchipuram, so after becoming aware of the incident, the state government had asked the Tamil Nadu government to investigate. The investigation report was received this morning. Strict action has been taken based on the report. Following the tragic deaths of the children, action was underway at the local level. A team has also been formed at the state level to investigate this matter. The guilty will not be spared at any cost,” CM Yadav said.

The Chief Minister said the state has moved to ban the implicated syrup immediately and extended the prohibition to other products from the same manufacturer pending further probe and testing. He added that coordination with Tamil Nadu authorities — where the factory is located — was essential to establish the facts quickly.

Local officials in Chhindwara have already begun on-ground measures, including seizing remaining stocks of the syrup, alerting health facilities, and issuing advisories to parents and caregivers. A state-level investigation team has been constituted to work alongside district authorities and the findings of the Tamil Nadu probe.

CM Yadav stressed the government’s zero-tolerance approach: strict legal and administrative action will follow against those found responsible, and public safety remains the administration’s top priority.
