As anticipation mounts for the announcement of Lok Sabha elections within the next week, Maharashtra’s political arena finds itself in a flurry of activity, with the allocation of seats between the Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi coalitions yet to be finalized. Adding to the intrigue is the speculation surrounding the potential inclusion of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi in the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance, a topic that has been circulating within political circles across the state.

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and senior Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde has weighed in on the seat allocation discussions within the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition, expressing his belief that the candidate list should be unveiled within the next three to four days. Shinde emphasized the importance of including candidates from underprivileged backgrounds in the Mahavikas Aghadi roster, advocating for representation that reflects the diversity of Maharashtra’s populace.

Addressing questions regarding the concept of deprivation, Shinde hinted at the potential inclusion of Prakash Ambedkar, leader of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, in the Mahavikas Aghadi fold. With Ambedkar’s experience in previous elections, Shinde expressed confidence in his ability to contribute positively to the coalition’s prospects. He urged voters to draw upon their experiences from past elections when considering candidates, particularly those advocating for the marginalized segments of society.

In regards to candidacy speculation surrounding Praniti Shinde, there are indications that she may contest the Lok Sabha elections from Solapur. Responding to inquiries on the matter, Sushilkumar Shinde reiterated that the decision ultimately rests with the Congress High Command, although there is a consensus among Solapur Congress members in favor of Praniti Shinde’s candidature. Efforts are underway within the District Congress to prepare for the upcoming elections, with the appointment of an in-charge district president to address any logistical challenges.

Meanwhile, questions loom over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate selection process for Solapur. Sushilkumar Shinde speculated that while the BJP may face challenges in finding a suitable candidate, they are likely to nominate a candidate with hidden potential. He referenced past incidents where the BJP fielded candidates without proper credentials, alluding to ongoing legal proceedings related to caste certificates.
