Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained in California, USA, according to sources. Indian authorities, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Maharashtra Police, have initiated the extradition process to bring him back to India to face multiple criminal charges.
Anmol Bishnoi is a key accused in the high-profile murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai on October 12. He has also been implicated in several other cases, including the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartment, on April 14.
The Mumbai Police have been investigating an audio clip that allegedly features a conversation between Anmol Bishnoi and another accused in the Siddique murder case. The prosecution claims that Vikas Gupta, another accused in the case, was in contact with Anmol through the Signal app and sent the audio clip to a third party.
Earlier this month, the Mumbai Police submitted a formal proposal for Anmol’s extradition to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), following confirmation from US authorities about his presence in California. The proposal has since been forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for further action.
The Bishnoi brothers, originally from Fazilka, Punjab, have a long criminal history. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. In April, a lookout circular was issued against Anmol, who had allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence.
In addition to local crimes, the NIA has registered an FIR against the Bishnoi brothers and seven others for their alleged involvement in raising funds, recruiting youth for terrorist acts, and orchestrating targeted killings. The agency has announced a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to Anmol’s arrest.
The detention of Anmol Bishnoi marks a significant development in the efforts to dismantle the criminal network associated with the Bishnoi gang. His extradition is expected to expedite ongoing investigations into high-profile cases, including the Siddique murder and other acts of violence and conspiracy.
