Lalu Prasad Files Nomination for RJD President Again, Tejashwi Says Party Ready for Future Under His Leadership

Patna: In a significant moment for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday formally filed his nomination to contest for re-election as RJD national president, a position he has held since the party’s founding nearly 30 years ago.

Despite his advanced age (78) and declining health, Lalu appeared in high spirits as he arrived at the RJD headquarters in Patna, flanked by his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, and younger son Tejashwi Yadav, widely regarded as his political heir.

The scene at the party office was one of jubilation, as scores of RJD workers gathered to welcome their veteran leader, many chanting slogans and showering flower petals. Lalu, once known for his fiery speeches and rustic charisma, was visibly frail but smiled and greeted loyalists, some of whom became emotional upon seeing him.

Speaking to reporters after the nomination filing, Tejashwi Yadav said, “A wave of happiness has swept across the party. Lalu ji’s leadership remains our guiding light. His decision to continue as president is not just symbolic—it signals continuity, experience, and readiness to take on the challenges ahead.”
