Kupwara police foil illegal trade of counterfeit gold biscuits, three arrested

Srinagar: In a major breakthrough, Kupwara police have successfully busted an illegal trade operation involving counterfeit gold biscuits. Acting on a tip-off, police station Lalpora launched a swift operation on Thursday, leading to the arrest of three individuals suspected of being involved in the illicit trade.

The arrested individuals have been identified as – Bashir Ahmad Khan, S/o Fazal Rehman Khan, Rayaz Ahmad War, S/o Mohammad Taseen War and Noor Mohammad Lohar, S/o Rehmatullah Lohar

All three accused are residents of Dever Lolab, Kupwara. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the counterfeit gold trade. The police successfully recovered 153 counterfeit gold biscuits from their possession. Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 61/2024 at police station Lalpora under the relevant sections of law, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
