New Delhi: Actor Rajpal Yadav is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail after surrendering in connection with a cheque bounce case linked to a loan taken over a decade ago. As reports of financial support from Bollywood celebrities surfaced, a new controversy has erupted following claims made by Kamaal R. Khan (KRK).
The legal trouble stems from 2010, when Yadav reportedly borrowed around Rs 5 crore to produce and direct his film Ata Pata Laapata. The project underperformed at the box office, and the debt, along with accumulated liabilities, allegedly rose to nearly Rs 9 crore over time.
After Yadav surrendered, reports suggested that several film personalities had stepped forward to support him financially. Actor Sonu Sood was among the first names mentioned, with others like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Gurmeet Choudhary, Mika Singh, and Varun Dhawan also reportedly offering assistance.
However, KRK has now cast doubt on those claims. On X, he wrote, “Brother of #RajpalYadav said that they haven’t got any money from anybody till now. All the ppl are just giving News of helping Rajpal for publicity.”
He further added, “Let’s see if Sonu Bhai will give them funds,” claiming that Yadav’s brother is hopeful only about support from Sonu Sood and expects help in the range of Rs 1–2 crore.
Meanwhile, Yadav’s manager Goldie presented a different picture in a media interaction. He said, “A lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan… he too reached out. Ratan Jain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated.”
Goldie did not clarify whether any funds had already been transferred but maintained that members of the film industry have expressed solidarity during the actor’s legal crisis.
