New Delhi: Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, expressed concern over the central government’s lack of a clear strategy to address the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, despite asserting that the entire opposition stands united with the Centre on matters of national security.

Speaking at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in New Delhi, Kharge emphasized that while the opposition supports the government’s efforts in combating terrorism, there had been no concrete strategy shared by the government several days after the deadly attack. He said, “No clear strategy has come from the government even several days after the Pahalgam attack.”

Kharge also raised concerns about the government’s recent move to conduct a caste survey, noting that while the Congress had demanded it, the timing of the decision came as a surprise. “The government accepted our demand for a caste survey, but the timing really surprised us,” Kharge stated, adding that the party remained cautious and would ensure the survey reaches a logical conclusion.

The Congress president credited former party chief Rahul Gandhi for the government’s decision to carry out the caste survey, highlighting Gandhi’s continued influence in pushing for policies that address public issues. “Rahul Gandhi proved once again that if we raise the issues of the people with honesty, the government has to bow down,” Kharge said.

In his address, Kharge reaffirmed that the opposition would remain united in supporting the government’s actions against any threats to the country’s unity, integrity, and prosperity. “We will unitedly and strictly act against any challenge that comes in the way of the country’s unity, integrity and prosperity. The entire opposition is with the government on this issue. We have given this message to the whole world,” Kharge added.
