Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is facing sharp criticism after an incident during a Congress protest rally in Belagavi on Monday (April 28), where he appeared to lose his temper and raised his hand at a police officer in an aggressive manner. The incident, which was captured on video, has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

The altercation occurred as Siddaramaiah was addressing the crowd at the rally. During his speech, a group of women—reportedly BJP workers—began shouting slogans against the state government and waving black cloths as a form of protest. The Chief Minister, visibly agitated, called a police officer onto the stage. Using the microphone, he shouted disrespectfully, “Aye Police,” summoning the officer to the stage.

The officer, identified as an SP (Superintendent of Police), walked up to the stage, where Siddaramaiah, in a moment of anger, raised his hand as if to slap him. However, he controlled his emotions and stopped short of making contact.

Adding to the controversy, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala, who was present at the rally, was overheard urging Siddaramaiah to label the protesters as BJP members, saying, “You should say these are BJP people and we will not be scared like this.” Siddaramaiah, however, denied the request, and Surjewala walked away.

The incident has drawn harsh criticism from opposition parties. JD(S) took to social media, condemning Siddaramaiah’s behavior, accusing him of letting power go to his head.
