Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath firmly quashed speculations surrounding his purported switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that such rumors hold no merit without any indication from him directly.
Addressing the media during his visit to Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district, Nath rebuffed the conjectures, stating, “Have you ever heard this from my mouth? Is there any indication? Nothing.” He emphasized that media reports fueling such speculation should be refuted before seeking his response.
Nath’s visit to Chhindwara marks the commencement of a five-day itinerary, during which he plans to engage with constituents and party workers across various assembly constituencies. With an eye on the impending Lok Sabha elections, Nath aims to bolster party morale and strategize for electoral success.
Responding to queries regarding his potential defection to the BJP, Nath maintained that media outlets were solely responsible for perpetuating such rumors, emphasizing the absence of any concrete indication from his end. Despite recent headlines suggesting otherwise, Nath reiterated his commitment to the Congress party.
Turning his attention to pressing issues affecting the state, Nath expressed concern over the plight of farmers grappling with crop damage caused by recent bouts of rain and hailstorms. He pledged to advocate for adequate compensation from the Chief Minister to alleviate the farmers’ hardships.
In a veiled jab at the BJP-led state government, Nath criticized its management of the state’s finances, attributing the mounting debt burden to reckless fiscal policies. He underscored the importance of responsible governance, emphasizing that public funds must be utilized judiciously for the welfare of citizens.
Regarding the selection of Congress candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Nath disclosed that deliberations were ongoing, with announcements imminent. He assured that the party was actively engaged in finalizing its roster of candidates to contest the electoral fray.
As Kamal Nath navigates the political landscape, his steadfast commitment to the Congress party and advocacy for grassroots issues reaffirms his role as a stalwart leader in Madhya Pradesh’s political arena.
