Kalasalingam University holds its 35th Convocation ceremony, degrees and doctorates awarded to hearing impaired students

Chennai: The 35th Convocation ceremony was held at Kalasalingam University on Friday wherein 1652 students of UG & P.G in Arts & Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Horticulture, Architecture and social Welfare, including 13 speech and hearing-impaired students and 84 Ph.Ds.

Chief guest Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, Government of India, New Delhi, distributed the degrees to rank holders and Ph.D., students while the guest of honours Sudharshan Gopalan, Vice President Spatial DNA Informatics Canada, and Karunakaran Vinayagam, Assistant Vice President Genpact, Bengaluru gave away the certificates.

The Chief guest Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy in his address said that, since last 38 years, the Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, is training the young minds and has been making a meaningful contribution to the society and the country and offers B. Tech program for the speech & hearing-impaired persons which is unique of its kind in the whole of Asia.

Today opens a door to an exciting world that awaits for the students and students will be part of the nation building process through the respective capabilities.

The graduation ceremony is a “Bridge between dreams and reality “students to be grateful to the Almighty for bestowing with courage and skills to overcome challenges. “The world is One Family”. India’s self-reliance is rooted in the happiness, cooperation, and peace of the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the youth of India to devote their 25 years of life to the nation’s development, to take pride in our heritage and fulfil their duties to achieve global harmony. Sir. C. V Raman, who said “when we import, we not only pay for our ignorance, but we also pay for our incompetence”. His thought motivates us to become self-reliant.

India is aiming to become “Aatmanirbhar” in critical technologies through the Make in India program and minimize import dependency and many defence technologies, MSMEs, and academia can interact and work together. Furthermore, the government has launched various initiatives to encourage academia and industries to bring their capabilities directly to attention of the services, with support from defence  R&D chief guest added.

Innovation is taking place in all aspects of our life. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Industry 4.0 (Internet of Industrial Things) are making inroads in technology. Utilizing these changes to improve our lives must be the goal.

“Creativity” involves ‘thinking’ about new things ‘innovation’ is about ‘doing’ things differently and we must collectively address the challenges by providing innovative solutions and Excel in whatever task you take up. Do what is required. Do not rest; keep working in a focused manner. You will excel!

Chancellor Dr. K. Sridharan presided over the Convocation, Pro Chancellor Dr. Arivalagi Sridharan, Vice Presidents Dr. S. Shasi Anand and Arjun Kalasalingam, Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Narayanan, Registrar Dr. V. Vasudevan, Board of Directors Dr. G. Swaminathan and Advisor S. Gnanasekar were also present.
