Mumbai: In a significant move to benefit farmers in the Jewar region, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an increase in the compensation for land acquired for the construction of the Jewar Airport. The compensation rate has been revised from Rs 3,100 per square metre to Rs 4,300 per square metre, marking an increase of Rs 1,200 per square metre. This revision is set to cover land acquisition for the third phase of the Noida International Airport project in Jewar.

CM Yogi made this announcement on Friday during a conversation with the farmers whose land is being acquired for the airport’s development. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Yogi shared the news, stating, “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Asia’s largest airport is being built in Jewar. The credit for this development goes to the farmers. The compensation for land acquisition for the third phase of Noida International Airport, Jewar, has been increased from Rs 3,100 per square metre to Rs 4,300 per square metre. Hearty congratulations and salutations to all the farmer brothers!”

The announcement was met with positive responses from the farmers, who expressed their gratitude towards the Chief Minister for his decision. CM Yogi emphasized that the farmers would also receive interest as per government rules, and there would be comprehensive arrangements for their resettlement and employment.

He further noted that the area, which had been neglected for decades, is now poised for rapid development. “Jewar remained immersed in darkness for decades, and now it is ready to shine on the world stage. In the next 10 years, Jewar is going to become the most developed area of the country, and the whole world will witness its prosperity,” said Yogi Adityanath. He confirmed that the Noida International Airport is scheduled to commence operations in April 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to inaugurate it.

In a statement highlighting the transformation of the area, CM Yogi recalled that land acquisition used to be a contentious issue in the past, often accompanied by violence. “Earlier, bullets were fired for land in the area, but now farmers are happily donating their land for the development of the region,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the future of the region, noting that a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility would be developed near the airport, positioning Jewar as a global hub for aircraft maintenance.

Additionally, CM Yogi outlined the ambitious plans for the infrastructure around Jewar Airport. He shared that the airport would have an annual passenger capacity of 70 million by 2040 and will be well-connected through various transportation networks. These include the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), Eastern Peripheral Road, Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and the Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail.

This announcement has been welcomed by the farmers of the region, who now have renewed hope for the future of their land and livelihoods. With the compensation increase and the promise of a brighter future for Jewar, the construction of Noida International Airport is set to be a game-changer for the region’s economy and infrastructure.
