Jaipur Tragedy: Death Toll Climbs to 14 in Tanker Fire Mishap on Ajmer Highway

Mumbai: The death toll in the devastating tanker truck collision on Bhankrota Ajmer Road in Jaipur on Saturday has risen to 14, confirmed DCP West Jaipur, Amit Kumar. The tragic accident, which occurred on Friday, involved a collision between a truck loaded with chemicals and a tanker carrying LPG, triggering a massive fire that engulfed several vehicles.

Initially, Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, had reported the loss of 13 lives in the mishap early on Saturday. However, DCP Kumar’s confirmation later indicated that the toll had increased to 14, with more victims succumbing to their injuries.

The accident took place on a busy stretch of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, where the collision resulted in an explosive fire, causing severe damage to multiple vehicles. Emergency response teams, including fire and rescue units, were dispatched to the scene to control the blaze and assist the victims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister’s Office stated, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected.”

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those who sustained injuries in the accident.

Local authorities and emergency teams are continuing to provide support to the affected individuals and their families. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the tragic mishap, while the highway has been cleared to ensure smooth traffic movement.

As the community mourns this heartbreaking tragedy, authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution on highways and roads to prevent such incidents in the future.
