Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) significant setback in the recent Bihar Assembly elections has brought a long-standing family feud within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s household into the public eye.

Lalu Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, who recently announced her departure from politics citing perceived ill-treatment from her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and his associates, has escalated the controversy with a sensational social media post and video.

Confrontation and Allegations

Rohini shared a 5-minute, 44-second clip of a phone conversation with journalist Kanhaiya Bhelari. In the audio, she is heard strongly confronting the journalist for comments he reportedly made about her staying at her parental home.

She challenged him sharply, asking, “Do you have any data on how many times I visit my parents’ home and how long I stay there?”

The Kidney Donation Challenge

The most fiery part of her post was a public challenge related to her decision to donate a kidney to her father, Lalu Prasad. Rohini wrote that those who claim to speak on behalf of Lalu Prasad should cease their “false sympathy” and instead demonstrate courage by donating their kidneys to patients in need.

She took a sharp dig at her critics, stating:

  • “Those who call a daughter’s kidney dirty should be the first to donate their own.”
  • “People who tremble at the thought of giving a bottle of blood preach about donating kidneys?”

The controversy specifically revolves around journalist Bhelari’s reported comments on a TV channel, suggesting: “Rohini ko kundali maar kar mayake mein nahi baithana chahiye” (Rohini should not sit coiled up at her parental home) and questioning her extended pre-election stay.

Questioning Tejashwi’s Role

In the shared video, Rohini directly questioned why her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, did not step forward to offer his kidney when their father needed a transplant.

She quoted in the audio, “Jab dene (Kidney) ka baat aaya toh beta bhaag gaya aur aap aaye hain kidney dene ke liye,” meaning, “When it came time to donate (a kidney), the son ran away, and you have come to donate a kidney?”

She concluded her conversation by stressing the difficulty of organ donation, noting that “It is easy to talk about kidney donation, but no one actually does it,” and that even giving blood scares many.
