Iran Claims Drone Strike On US Fifth Fleet Base In Bahrain As Gulf Tensions Spiral

Iran Announces Drone Operation Against US Naval Facility In Bahrain

The confrontation between Iran and the United States intensified dramatically on Wednesday after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it carried out a drone attack targeting the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

According to an official statement released by the IRGC, the operation was launched at approximately 2:30 a.m. local time and was described as retaliation for what Tehran alleged were American strikes on multiple locations in southern Iran earlier in the day.

The IRGC stated, “The warmongering US regime attacked several points in Jask, Sirik, and Qeshm early this morning under false pretexts, damaging a telecommunications mast in Sirik and destroying two water tanks in the city.”

The statement further added, “In response to the enemy’s vicious move, the IRGC naval fighters launched a drone strike on the Bahraini Fifth Navy at 2:30 a.m.”

Bahrain Activates Air Raid Sirens

Shortly after Iran’s announcement, authorities in Bahrain confirmed emergency measures had been activated across the country.

The Bahraini Interior Ministry issued a public alert through social media, urging residents to remain vigilant.

In its statement, the ministry said, “The siren has been sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.”

The warning sparked concerns across the Gulf region, where several strategic American military installations are located.

US-Iran Conflict Deepens After Helicopter Incident

The latest escalation follows a series of rapidly unfolding military exchanges between Tehran and Washington.

Earlier, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces had begun what it described as defensive military operations against Iranian targets.

In a statement, CENTCOM said, “US Central Command forces began launching self-defence strikes against Iran at 5 p.m. ET today at the Commander in Chief’s direction, in response to yesterday’s downing of a US Army Apache helicopter.”

The military command further described the action as a “proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.”

Trump Confirms Apache Helicopter Was Shot Down

US President Donald Trump earlier confirmed that an American Apache helicopter operating over the Strait of Hormuz had been brought down in an Iranian attack.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump stated, “I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz.”

He also emphasized that no casualties were reported, adding, “There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

Iran Warns US To Leave The Region

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a strong warning to Washington, insisting that Iran would respond decisively to any future military threats.

In a post on X, Araghchi said, “Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the US opted to test our determination.”

He further warned, “Our Powerful Armed Forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe. History of the Persian Gulf has many chapters on the dire fates of intruding outsiders.”

Wider Middle East Conflict Raises Alarm

The latest developments come amid growing instability across the Middle East, where tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel have continued to intensify. Security analysts fear that direct military exchanges between Tehran and Washington could expand beyond the Strait of Hormuz and impact the wider Gulf region, raising concerns over regional security, energy supplies and international shipping routes.
