Indian Railways Announces 14 Special Holi Trains to Ease Festive Travel Rush

New Delhi: With the festival of Holi around the corner, people working away from home are preparing to reunite with their families, leading to a surge in travel demand. To facilitate smooth and comfortable journeys, Indian Railways has announced 14 Special Holi trains under the South Central Railway (SCR) to connect major destinations across the country. These special trains will operate on various dates in March 2025, ensuring that passengers do not face ticket shortages while traveling for the festival.

The special trains will cover key routes including Cherlapalli, Shalimar, Santragachi, Jalna, and Patna, with stoppages at major railway stations such as Nalgonda, Guntur, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Bhubaneswar, Kharagpur, Buxar, Ara, and more. For passengers traveling between Jalna and Patna, trains will halt at important stations including Parbhani, Purna, Akola, Burhanpur, Itarsi, and several others. These trains will offer a range of travel options with 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches to cater to different categories of passengers.

In addition to the Holi special trains, Indian Railways will operate 36 special trains between Rajkot and Mahbubnagar to accommodate the heavy passenger rush during the festival and the upcoming summer season. This initiative will benefit lakhs of travelers, making their journeys more convenient and hassle-free.

Holi, known as the festival of colours, will be celebrated on March 14, 2025, marking the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. The day before Holi, Holika Dahan or Choti Holi, will be observed on March 13, 2025.
