Srinagar: Bodybuilding is the use of progressive resistance exercise to control and develop one’s muscles (muscle building) by muscle hypertrophy for aesthetic purposes. It is distinct from similar activities such as powerlifting because it focuses on physical appearance instead of strength. An individual who engages in this activity is referred to as a bodybuilder.

In consonance with its efforts to guide the youth and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent, Zorawar Garrison, Army Camp Gujjarpatti organised “Sher-e-Lolab body building Championship ” at model village Chandigam on Monday. A total of 15 competitors from different villages of the Lolab valley participated in the open contest in under 70 kilogram and those above 70-kilogram categories.

Civil dignitaries including DDC Vice Chairman, Kupwara, Haji Farooq Mir, Principal, Government Degree college Sogam, SDPO Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Naiku, SHO Lalpura and more than 200 youth from adjoining villages graced the occasion with their presence.

Winners and runners from both the categories were awarded with cash prizes and trophies. The locals appreciated the organizers and Indian Army for conducting such a wonderful event that will help for furthering and spreading a positive environment and engaging youth in creative activities.
