Srinagar: Bhaand Pather is one of the most satirical and realistic dramas and incorporates contemporary social satire. It has the power to connect with the masses and bring visible changes in the local society.
With the aim to convey positive messages amongst the local populace through entertainment in the form of Bhaand Pather live performance, a joint initiative was undertaken by Indian Army Camp at Langate and the civil administration. The move was supported by Shajahan, chairman of All J&K Folk Theatres. The event that was organised at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Langate on November 23 turned out to be a grand success wherein about 1500 locals witnessed the event with great zeal and enthusiasm.
A total of four Folk Theatres participated in the event and performed on different themes:
Nandresi Theatre, Kupwara – Importance of Education.
Snober Theatre, Sopore – Corruption.
Wuller Theatre, Budgam – Drug Menace.
Bomi Lok Theatre, Badgam – Traffic Control.
The event was graced by Irfan Panditpuri DDC Chairman Kupwara, Hamid Fani Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Javed Qureshi, Members of Lalded Youth Club and Mawar Youth Society, various Dignitaries from Civil Administration and large number of spectators. At the end of the event, Best Folk Theatre and Best Performers were felicitated. The members of Lalded Youth Club and Mawar Youth Society were also felicitated in view of their active involvement and support for such events.
The audience were very thrilled to have witnessed such programme for the first time. All performers of Bhaand Pather displayed exceptional wit and humour. The show received enthusiastic response from spectators and all expressed their gratitude and desire to witness such events in future too.
