Mumbai: In a shocking incident aboard the Bikaner-Jammu Tawi Sabarmati Express, an Indian Army jawan was fatally stabbed by a train attendant following a dispute over a bedsheet on Sunday night, November 2. The incident occurred inside an AC coach, leaving passengers horrified and prompting swift police action.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Jignesh Chaudhary, who was posted in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, and was on his way home to Sabarmati, Gujarat. He had boarded the train from Firozpur Cantt.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Bikaner Railway Police, Chaudhary had requested a bedsheet from the train attendant, identified as Zubair Memon. The conversation allegedly turned into a heated argument that soon escalated into a physical altercation.

Investigators revealed that after the confrontation, Memon followed Chaudhary to his coach and attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the calf. The soldier suffered severe blood loss and succumbed to his injuries before any medical assistance could be provided.

The accused has been arrested by the Bikaner Railway Police, and an FIR has been registered. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage from the train and questioning passengers and staff to reconstruct the sequence of events.

“We have taken the accused into custody and are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the fatal altercation,” a senior railway police official said.
