Patna: In a dramatic twist to the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) national president and Mahua candidate Tej Pratap Yadav took a pointed swipe at his younger brother and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, calling him “a child.” The sharp remark came shortly after Tejashwi wrapped up his campaign in Mahua on Tuesday, escalating tensions within the Yadav political family.

Speaking to reporters, Tej Pratap quipped, “He is still a child. After the elections, we’ll hand him a jhunjhuna (rattle).” The statement has gone viral, symbolizing the widening rift between the two sons of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who now find themselves on opposing sides of the political battlefield.

Tej Pratap, who previously represented Mahua constituency after his victory in 2015 on an RJD ticket, is now contesting under his own banner following his expulsion from the RJD earlier this year. His decision to float the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) came after a series of public disagreements with his family and controversies that strained internal party relations.

The Mahua constituency has turned into a high-voltage contest this election season, featuring a direct face-off between Tej Pratap Yadav and RJD’s Mukesh Raushan, the sitting MLA and Mahagathbandhan candidate. Political analysts believe this battle could be one of the most closely watched fights in Bihar, blending family drama with electoral strategy.
