New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh has confirmed that incidents of attacks and desecration of Hindu temples in the United States are immediately taken up with the US Government through diplomatic channels.

Addressing the Parliament on Friday, Singh stated that several temples in the US have been defaced with anti-India graffiti in recent years. “All incidents of attack and desecration of temples and places of worship in the US are immediately taken up with the US Government through diplomatic channels,” he said in a written reply.

He added that temple management authorities and community associations have also lodged complaints with local law enforcement agencies, demanding strict investigations and enhanced security for places of worship. US law enforcement agencies have classified such incidents as hate crimes, and members of the US Congress have urged authorities to devise a strategy to counter these attacks.

However, the concern over hate crimes against Hindus extends beyond the US. India has raised alarms over the deteriorating safety of minorities in Bangladesh, particularly following a series of violent incidents. Between August 2024 and February 2025, over 2,374 attacks were reported, with authorities confirming 1,254 cases—98% of which were classified as political violence.

India has also repeatedly condemned rising extremism and anti-India activities in Canada, urging Canadian authorities to take strong action against these activities. In November 2024, an Indian consular camp at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton faced a violent disruption, sparking widespread criticism.
