New Delhi: India on Friday strongly rejected Pakistan’s claims alleging its involvement in the Jaffar Express train hijacking in Balochistan, calling the accusations baseless and an attempt to deflect from internal failures.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed Pakistan’s allegations, stating, “We strongly reject the baseless allegations made by Pakistan. The whole world knows where the epicenter of global terrorism lies. Pakistan should look inwards instead of pointing fingers and shifting the blame for its own internal problems and failures onto others.”

The sharp response came after Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan claimed on Thursday that the rebels responsible for the Jaffar Express attack were in direct contact with their handlers in Afghanistan. He urged Afghanistan to act against terrorist groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), accusing them of operating from Afghan soil.

“We urge Afghanistan to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers of this reprehensible act of terrorism accountable and cooperate with the government of Pakistan to bring all those involved, including the real sponsors of terrorism, to justice,” Khan said.

While Pakistan has previously accused India of supporting the BLA, this time, it shifted focus toward Afghanistan. However, Khan maintained that Islamabad’s policy remains unchanged.
