Indian Navy ports mentioned in misinformation claims during US Iran conflict

India has strongly rejected reports suggesting that the United States used Indian ports to launch military strikes against Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called the claims completely false and warned people not to spread misinformation during a sensitive global conflict.

The controversy began after former US Army officer Douglas Macgregor made remarks during an interview with One America News Network. He claimed that the US Navy was relying on Indian naval bases because American infrastructure had allegedly been damaged in the ongoing war with Iran.

MEA Issues Strong Denial

India’s Ministry of External Affairs responded quickly through its official fact-check unit. In a public statement, the ministry described the allegations as “baseless and fabricated.”

Officials clarified that no Indian port or naval facility has been used by the United States for any military operation against Iran. The government also urged media platforms and individuals to verify facts before sharing such serious claims.

The MEA stressed that India maintains an independent foreign policy and does not allow its territory to be used for conflicts between other nations.

What Triggered the Controversy

During the television interview, Macgregor claimed that American bases and harbor facilities had been destroyed in the war, forcing the US to depend on India. However, no official confirmation has supported his statements.

His comments quickly circulated on social media, leading to speculation about India’s possible involvement in the conflict.

War Between US, Israel and Iran Intensifies

The current conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched coordinated attacks targeting Iran’s military leadership, missile systems, and nuclear facilities. Since then, fighting has expanded across the region.

President Donald Trump praised American forces, saying they were performing “very well on the war front.” Meanwhile, US Senate Republicans voted against a resolution that aimed to stop military action.

The war has already caused heavy casualties. Reports from regional officials say more than 1,000 people have died in Iran, over 70 in Lebanon, and several in Israel. Missile exchanges have also affected Bahrain and Kuwait, while Turkey reported intercepting a ballistic missile before it entered its airspace.

Global Impact of the Conflict

The fighting has disrupted global oil and gas supplies, affected international shipping routes, and left thousands of travelers stranded across the Middle East. Rising tensions have increased fears of a wider regional war.

India, which has strong diplomatic ties with multiple countries in the region, has so far maintained a neutral stance. By firmly rejecting the recent claims, New Delhi has made it clear that it is not part of any military action in the ongoing crisis.
