New Delhi: In a significant move, the Government of India has blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including major media outlets like Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, and Geo News. The action follows a series of recommendations from the Ministry of Home Affairs, in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to government sources, these channels were found to be promoting “provocative and communally sensitive content,” spreading false narratives and misinformation aimed at destabilizing India. The misinformation targeted India’s security agencies and its military, fueling tensions after the April 22 attack, which left 26 people dead.

The decision to block these channels was made to prevent further escalation and curb the spread of dangerous propaganda in the aftermath of the tragic events. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting acted promptly, citing inputs from various security agencies. Government officials have emphasized that such online platforms were engaged in deliberate disinformation campaigns, which could undermine national security and social harmony.
The move is part of India’s broader strategy to tackle information warfare, which has become an increasingly important component of its response to national security threats. The government has made it clear that it will not tolerate any attempts to exploit tragic events for spreading hate and division.
